I’m sorry I haven’t been around for a while. The usual reason – work, work, work. We’re teaching a new course in French, which has meant that all my material needs to be updated. And I’ve got a huge GCSE English class (33 fifteen/sixteen year-olds) so when I grade anything it takes forever. It’s reporting time for my Year 9s (thirteen/fourteen years of age and two groups: one of 32 and the other 28 ) so I’ve been busy with assessments not to mention writing the wretched reports. Any spare time I get I try to get on with the WIP and that is going quite well so far in that I’m revising everything, making some of the changes recommended by my RNA reader before I finish the story.
On Monday night I suffered from the most excruciating back pain and hardly slept. At the doctor’s on Tuesday I was told that I had caused it by standing for hours in the same position in my classroom and then sitting for hours at my computer in the evenings. I was prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs and they have really helped. Now I need to make sure I walk around a bit more during the day and get up from the computer and stretch more in the evenings. If only I weren’t so busy I’d go to a yoga or pilates class!
