I had to rush to the dentist this morning as I have an abscess under a molar. My fault as I’ve known there was something wrong since last August, but the sensitivity kept coming and going until a few days ago when the pain came and didn’t go away again. Yesterday I noticed a gum boil. Apparently, there’s a crack in a filling and infection has set in. So now I’m on antibiotics. On Monday after school I have an appointment for my dentist to take the filling out and have a look at what’s going on underneath. Not nice and bound to be expensive.

Poor Charlie Cat has been in the wars as well. He came home the other night limping. So we took him to the vet’s to discover he’d cut one of his paw pads. They gave him two injections: antibiotics and painkillers. He’s had to say home and is well on the way to making a full recovery now.

My A Level Spanish training last Friday was very useful and the new syllabus looks like it will be an improvement on the current one which focuses too much on difficult listening comprehensions. I think I’m going to enjoy teaching it.

On Saturday we went to Bristol for the afternoon to run some errands. We had an early dinner at Budokan and then went to see Atonement. What a sad film. I read the book a while ago and thought it was brilliant. The film was good and Keira Knightley played her part well although James McAvoy was the better actor IMO.

It made a pleasant change to have a weekend when I could do “my things” instead of constant school work. That’s what I meant when I said I needed a life.

The past week has been busy as usual with a parents’ consultation evening last night. But in a week’s time we have a week off for half term and I’m going to Italy with son for my mother’s 80^th Birthday Celebration. Can’t wait.

I still haven’t heard from the RNA and the eight week waiting period is up so I sent off an email to enquire today. My m/s and reader’s report is probably languishing in a post office somewhere due to the recent postal strike. I hope it doesn’t get lost. . .

My plans for the weekend are to do some writing, some reading and some house and garden straightening. There’s work to do for school, but not an overwhelming amount.
