Above is son’s show reel which he has finally completed. Hopefully it’s good enough for him to get his toe in the door of a post production company.

I’ve been so inundated with work the past ten days that, again, I haven’t been around much. Tonight is the first evening I’ve had to do “my things” for ages. That’s the trouble with teaching: you have periods of intense activity followed by times of relative calm. I’ve caught up with my marking and preparation. There’s always something that needs to be done but nothing that can’t wait. I really do feel as if I need a life at the moment. It’s been go, go, go since the beginning of term. There’s a lot happening with respect to innovations on top of loads of the usual. One good thing: since the “workload agreement” came in we don’t have to cover so many lessons for absent colleagues. But it seems as if we’re even busier than we used to be as we are now more focused on improving the school.

I’m off on a course tomorrow, which will make a pleasant change. There will be Spanish teachers that I know from other schools and it will be a treat to spend the day in an adult environment. There’s a new AS/A Level specification which we’ll start teaching next September. They only brought the old one out in 2000, but have decided to change it. And in 2009 there’ll be a new GCSE to get used to...

No news yet from the RNA about my manuscript. It’s been seven weeks now and I should hear next week if they keep to their word. However, the postal strike will probably delay things even more. I’m definitely going to get on with some writing this weekend, but it would be more encouraging if I received my reader’s report.
