I love it!!!xxx

Believe it or not but it’s true: this is the first chance I’ve had to write my blog since the new term began. They say a woman’s work is never done. Well the same goes for a teacher’s. And if you’re a woman as well then double that! Anyway, now I feel more or less on top of things for a small window of time. So I’m grabbing my chance before something else crops up.
The pic above is of trailing geraniums in the hanging basket by our kitchen door. They’re putting on a glorious show this year and, when it gets too cold to leave them outdoors, I’m planning on bringing them into the conservatory to brighten up the winter.
We’ve been having an Indian summer the past few weeks. The weekends have been fab, but it’s a bit too hot for school. My classroom catches the afternoon sun and the kids have been baking. I’m reluctant to wish for cooler weather as we get far too much wind and rain in this country, but it will make for pleasanter working conditions when it does arrive.
So far the new term has been going with a swing. I’ve got some really nice classes, however the pressure is on to get them through their exams with the best results possible. You can lead a child to the fountain of knowledge, but you can’t make him/her drink. You have to offer up a cocktail of activities to meet their needs, engaging them actively in your lessons. It’s a huge challenge. The school year is a bit like a roller-coaster ride. There are plenty of ups and downs. Sometimes it feels as if you are chugging up a slow, difficult mountain and then, whee! You’re whizzing along at a cracking pace. Today it’s Wednesday and we’re over the hump to the weekend. Whee!
Hi Siobhan, you must have a green thumb! Every picture you show of your garden and flowers are always so big and lovely. I'm glad you were able to update. I haven't had time either to update in a while but wanted to come by and visit to see what's new. I agree that its a challenge to teach young kids nowadays. There are good teachers like yourself who really want the kids to get it! Sometimes it has to do with the parents as well. Kids need encouragement and support at home so that they know what is expected of them and so the teachers can focus on their jobs rather than spending time diciplining or "forcing" them to pay attention. Anyway, cheers to you my dear for your dedication...! We have cooler weather here this week (dont know what will happen next week) but I'm enjoying it!
