Thursday and Friday in school with no pupils. Very peaceful! We had a series of meetings and I attended a couple of useful seminars. It was lovely to see all my wonderful colleagues again and my students' Spanish GCSE and A Level results were fantastic. Very rewarding when that happens.
I went to Bristol today for a bit of pampering at Carlo's (my Italian hairdresser) and a shop up at Waitrose for some yummy food. The weather is too hot today to cook, so I picked up some mozzarella di bufola. We've grown our own tomatoes and basil in the garden this year and they'll go perfectly with it, drizzled with a little extra virgin olive oil and washed down with some Montepulciano di Abruzzo. Squisito!
Husband went back to work last week. He's made an excellent recovery from his operation for prostate cancer last June.
Paul continues to work part time at a local warehouse. Otherwise, he goes clubbing in Bristol with his mates or plays a game on the Internet. It seems to involve forty people at once trying to break into some sort of dungeon. ??!!?? The house will be very quiet when he goes back to uni in October.
I'm almost ready for a week of teaching. It's always a shock to the system to go back after the long summer break. However, I've got some nice Spanish classes this year. Also, in exchange for teaching bottom set French I've been given a GCSE English Language class. Word of my interest in writing got out and as the English Department are one teacher short, they approached me. I'm really looking forward to it and relish the challenge. I've got a Year 7 tutor group and I'm teaching Year 7 French as well, which is fun most of the time.
In my 'spare time' I've been working on Chapter One of my new project. It starts on Christmas morning of 1941 as Hong Kong surrenders to the Japanese.
